Carpet is hard to keep clean. I get it. What I don’t get is why we carpet all hotel rooms since it guarantees us dirty floors. One person suggested to me that perhaps the point is to avoid slip and falls, but the bathroom—where people are more likely to fall—is tiled. That’s another matter. Other than general preference, my issue with dirty hotel carpet is that it interferes with yoga while traveling.
After walking around in white socks for a couple of hours and finding the soles black and gross, I just couldn’t bring myself to go through a full yoga routine that would have my face anywhere near the yuck. I was totally going to let myself off the hook since I was walking like 20,000 steps a day, but the truth is I really do need the soft calming effects of yoga when I’m engaging with crowds of people all day long. It keeps me sane (and nice).
Still… ew. So instead I decided to do the floor work portion on the bed. It was so hard not to let planks end in a nap! So while it was definitely not physically demanding, it felt good to start my day getting my zen on just the same.
