It’s funny the things that stay with us. I was just watching Blacklist on Netflix when a mention of Cape May, New Jersey, took me back to a moment some fifteen years ago or so.
I love being near water. As the sun was setting and the breeze getting ever cooler, I watched a trio of dolphins playing near the shore. Time just kind of stopped. Between the angle of the sun and the pink stones on the beach, everything had a soft rosy glow. Even the dolphins looked pink as they jumped in and out of the water.
And just like that, I went from the breath-holding spell of Raymond Reddington, international super villain, to the quiet calm of a pink sunset hundreds of miles and thousands of days away.
