Launched my podcast

I did it. I finally launched the podcast I’ve been wanting to publish for so long. It’s not the way I initially imagined it nor have I met all of my goals—heck, I barely started working on the art three days ago—but it’s out there and that’s all that matters. It’s called Meet the Neighbor.

It’s been quite the experience already, and I still have such a long way to go! At first I tried to do the audio myself. Talk about a steep learning curve. It’s fun, and I did get to learn how to use a couple of different programs.

When I say “learn”, I mean at the most basic level. I still have no idea what most of the buttons do on Adobe Audition but, thanks to YouTube, I manage to clean up the audio on one of the interviews. It took for ever! And I still needed to do the intro and outro and blend music and add credits and and and… In the end I decided to get help and and focus on the interviews.

The hardest part hasn’t been the technical part, though. It’s the part most of us struggle with when we’re about to hit publish. It’s the self-doubt that bubbles up when we’re going to take on a creative project and then show it to the world.

What if no one listens? Oh dear lord, what if they do listen! Will they like it? Is this really the direction that I want to go in? What if I change my mind? What if I run out of things to say? What if I run out of guests!

Fortunately the only thing that makes me more nervous than internet trolls is regret. After serving myself a lot of waffling with a dash of dread,  I’ve hit “publish” anyway. So here we go. Fingers crossed that it goes well. 🤞
